Metacognition – Ability to observe your own thoughts

Metacognition – A ability to observe your own thoughts

One of the most amazing abilities of the human brain is the ability to understand our own thought processes.

We not only think, but we can also monitor our own thoughts, this ability is called metacognition.

Wen you observe the thoughts, you will separate from the thoughts.

Metacognition = Meta + Cognition

Meta = Beyond

Cognition = To think, to understand, to know

Metacognition is a ability to observe your own thoughts. When you observe your own thoughts then you realize that you are not thoughts.

Metacognition is not merely a process of thinking, but the art of understanding, examining and when necessary, changing own thoughts.

A person who learns to observe their own mind can learn more effectively, make better decisions, and become more aware in life.

Metacognition has two main components. The first is awareness of your own thoughts and knowledge and that is understanding what we know and what we do not know. The second component is the regulation of your own thought processes, this involves planing, monitoring your understanding and adjusting way of thinking when necessary.

People who observe their own thoughts get unique approach.

When you observe your thoughts and feelings without any judgement, the mind automatically becomes calm.

When you feel pain, it comes not from the event but from our thoughts about it.

When you observe thoughts, thoughts do not drive us, but we handle the thoughts.

An ordinary person drifts along with the waves, whereas a wise person stands on the shore and observes.

When the water becomes calm, the fish in it are clearly visible. So we can say that calm mind can sees clear world.

Metacognition is a process in which human understand the thinking process.And this is called freedom.

Metacognition is the moment the mind becomes both the thinker and the observer.
